Baritone Bates is a supporting character in Disney's live-action movie Dumbo. He is the ringmaster of V.A. Vandevere's Dreamland, a circus-themed amusement park. He introduces Dumbo, the flying elephant, to the audience using his catchphrase, "Let's get ready for Dumbo!"
Vandevere's Baritone Bates is a charming and extravagant showman. He is dressed in a red coat, a top hat, and a monocle. He has a powerful, deep voice that draws attention. He is devoted to Vandevere and blindly obeys his commands. He appears to like his job and the Dreamland show. Vandevere first encounters baritone Bates at the Medici Brothers' Circus, where Dumbo was performing. He goes with Vandevere as he makes an offer to buy Dumbo and employ Milly and Joe Farrier and their father Holt to work at Dreamland. Baritone Bates is in charge of introducing Dumbo's performance at Dreamland, in which he flies around a massive replica of Paris while carrying Colette. He also introduces new Dreamland attractions, such as Nightmare Island, which houses deadly animals.
