Character William Turner, Sr., often known as "Bootstrap Bill" among pirates, made his film debut in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. He was a pirate who operated in the Seven Seas. He is Will Turner's father and a member of the Flying Dutchman.  Jack Sparrow describes Bootstrap as a "good pirate and a good man." 
Bootstrap Bill Turner was the father of Will Turner, a well-known pirate who followed in his father's footsteps. Bootstrap was the only crew member who remained loyal to Jack after the mutiny; even though he would be left abandoned at the bottom of the sea, he vowed to get revenge on the crew for their actions.
