Chief James Porter is a character from the College Road Trip movie. He was portrayed by Martin Lawrence. He is the husband of Michelle Porter and the father of Melanie and Trey. He is an Army veteran and the chief of police in a small Illinois suburb. He is cheerful, helpful, serious, intelligent, and sweet. His mission is to keep people safe. He is overly protective of his family, but eventually he lets Melanie go and lets her live her life.
