Mr. Ian Mercer is a nemesis who makes his debut in both At World's End and Dead Man's Chest in the Disney film series Pirates of the Caribbean. Ian Mercer was a member of the East India Trading Company and served as Lord Cutler Beckett's devoted assistant as well as a loyal subject of the British Empire.
Like every other effective and dedicated clerk, Mercer also had a darker side, acting as an assassin and a spy to further the goals of his employer. Mercer was vicious and intimidating, adopting cunning strategies and going to any lengths to support Beckett's ambition for dominance. Mercer frequently wore a grim expression on his face and was very serious. Whatever the instructions were, he immediately carried them out.
